Taiwanese singer-actor Alien Huang was found dead in his Taipei apartment on Wednesday after what is believed to have been a freak accident.
Huang, who is best-known for co-hosting Taiwan’s long-running TV variety show 100% Entertainment with singer Show Lo, was discovered lying unresponsive with head injuries outside his bathroom by his father.
Taiwanese media reports said Huang was wearing a top but no underwear at the time, and the bathtub was filled with water, leading paramedics to believe that he died after slipping on the floor.Huang – born Huang Hong-sheng – is the third 36-year-old Asian celebrity to die this week, following the apparent deaths by suicide on Monday of Japanese actress Ashina Sei and South Korean actress Oh In-hye.
Local media reports said security camera footage showed Huang returning home alone at 7.15pm on Tuesday, and he did not leave his apartment. Huang’s father arrived at about 11am yesterday and discovered his son motionless on the floor. Police reportedly found no drugs or alcohol at the scene, and there were no signs of a struggle.News of Huang’s death has shocked Taiwan’s entertainment industry. Among those who have paid tribute to the entertainer is Taiwanese singer-actress Rainie Yang, who was also Huang’s ex-girlfriend.
