A YouTuber has been arrested for handing out boxes of rubbish to transgender women.
Indonesian police launched a manhunt for Ferdian Paleka and his friend after they shared a video of the sick ‘prank’ online.
Paleka was finally arrested on Friday and is now facing up to 12 years in prison.
In the video, which went viral early last week, the Youtube star joined two others in putting bricks and rotten food inside noodle boxes.
He and a friend then gave the packages out to young transgender women in the streets of Bandung, West Java, Indonesia.
They referred to their victims as ‘bencong’, which is a derogatory Indonesian word for transgender women.
Two of the people they spoke to in the video covered their faces as Paleka and his friend handed the ‘aid’ packages to them.
One of them then waves at the camera while receiving the goody bag, while Paleka puts his palms together in an apparent sign of respect.
According the the Jakarta Post, Paleka says in the video: “So we want to survey bencong on the streets, whether they are around or not in this fasting month (of Ramadan).
“If we encounter them, we’ll give them the packages. But if they’re not around, that means the city is safe from them,”
The video has been removed from YouTube for breaking its rules on bullying and harassment.
While on the run, Paleka shared an Instagram video in which he pretended to apologise.
He said: “I personally would like to apologise for what I’ve done… not.”
