KUALA LUMPUR: The president of PKR, Anwar Ibrahim, appeared to reveal the cause of the nominate (PH) of the 8th Prime Minister on 26 Feb last when the country was hit by political crisis.
He said that the decision to nominate he was made after Dr Mahathir Mohamad refused to president at the current PH for the reason that he did not hold any position in the Coalition after resigning as chairman of PPBM before that.
“When they (PAS and Umno) decided not to support Mahathir as Prime Minister (after Mahathir asked to execute the Solidarity Government) and (ask the disbanded of Parliment), we asked Tun Mahathir to president at the meeting of the dinner PH president (25 Feb), he refused because he was no longer in PH.
“… So we had no candidate supporting PH unless he returned to the original PH, which was presented my name. That does not mean we reject and treacherous (Mahathir). That’s the fact.
“I had to elaborate the cause of Tun Mahathir to take explanation as if we did not support him,” he said, believed to refer to Mahathir’s statement before which he lost his support to have had to miss the position of Prime
Anwar said so when speaking at a weekly event in a residential near Segambut here, with the hope of the explanation of the actual chronology of developments that occurred earlier was not mistaken.
He also contributes that there are parties in PH which suggests its name as a deputy Prime Minister.
“There is a suggestion if I am Deputy Prime Minister. Not to do not be, we continue. I’ve been doing it again.” He says.
Mahathir had previously blamed the president of PKR as his cause was not appointed as the 8th Prime Minister.
He said Anwar was unable to be the Prime Minister for not acquiring many support.
“Anwar was indeed a maniac-crazy nak so PM, he could never be so (PM) that he had had a lot of people supported him, now that many would support me.” Mahathir said.
He said this in a closed meeting with the roots leader of PPBM in Prime Leadership Foundation on last 1 March.
The former Prime Minister said, he resigned as Prime Minister on that Anwar could prove he had the support to spearhead the country.
Due to the crisis that occurred in the PH of the following Mahathir’s resignation, his leadership was fallen, thus following a change of power in Putrajaya.
On 1 March President PPBM, Muhyiddin Yassin, with the support of parliamentary members of the party, a former PKR leader who supported former deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali, Barisan Nasional (BN), PAS and GPS was appointed the 8th Prime Minister with the assent of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.
